DRG 500 - Digital Residential Gateway

The DRG 500 series, is PacketFront's series of customer premises equipment including several products optimized for triple-play services.

The DRG 500 series is purpose built to fit a home LAN environment, either Fibre To The Home or Ethernet To The Home. Embedded VoIP functionality allows the use of existing analogue telephones or fax machines. Enhanced multicast handling with support for multiple set-top boxes and thus allowing multiple TV-sets in one household, are other examples of features within the series.

A Fibre Termination Unit (FTU) can easily be clicked on to any product within the DRG 500 series, protecting fibre and connectors from damage in the household and eliminating the need for patch cables. Furthermore, a cable TV converter which converts the CATV signal in the fibre to a standard TV antenna outlet, can be integrated with the FTU. This allows for a smooth migration to an all-IP infrastructure.

With the DRG 500 and FTU , installation engineers, property owners and network owners are given greater flexibility when it comes to the installation process of active and passive access equipment.

The DRG 500 series is part of PacketFront's automated broadband solution, and is monitored by the network control and provisioning system, BECS™ , via the broadband routers, ASRs, enabling efficient and fast troubleshooting.

DRG 500 can also be managed from PacketFront's DRG element manager Home Device Director, HDD.
