The Service Engine delivers advanced and concurrent “any-play” services to thousands of end-users and with built-in support for the
BECS control and provisioning system, the service delivery process can be fully automated which dramatically reduces operational costs for operators.
The Service Engine works with any Ethernet based access technology such as ADSL, VDSL, Ethernet based FTTH, Wireless networks, CATV, Broadband power lines and Passive Optical Networks (PON). The Service Engine requires only common functionality found in any access device. This makes it easy to mix and match new broadband services with legacy access technology, thereby avoiding costly forklift upgrades to cope with next generation service demands.
The Service Engine platform is based on the same network processing technology as the successful ASR5000 access switch from PacketFront. Network processors allow maximum flexibility with maximum performance and means that the Service Engine can control services for each individual client in the household. Powerful deep packet inspection capabilities and flow based forwarding allow network operators to take the networks to a higher level – this includes offering new and innovative services using the same type of service flexibility that already exists in the PacketFront solution for active Ethernet.
This platform delivers highly efficient bandwidth usage and the Service Engine can even replace costly BRAS systems for existing xDSL deployments, as and when network operators move to FTTx. Packed with features such as real-time protocol monitoring (RPM) of TV and detailed flow information export, the network operator is given valuable information concerning network maintenance, planning and troubleshooting, as well as meeting regulatory requirements such as the 2006/24/EC data retention directive.
Powered by the proven iBOS software, and fully automated by
BECS™, The Service Engine makes it possible for network operators to offer high quality, any-play services to end users with a minimum of resources.
The unique architecture of
BECS and Service Engine provides network operators with an all-IP solution where network ownership can be separated from the service ownership, giving flexibility in their choice of business model.
