The MetroStar 2016 product provides the industry’s highest density and environmentally friendly GPON Optical Line Terminator. Compliant with the ITU-T G.984 standard for passive optical networks, the MS2016 has the lowest power consumption per subscriber – less than half of industry standard OLT solutions. This makes the MS2016 the first truly green PON system on the market today.
The MS2016 can connect up to 16 GPON segments with up to 1024 PON end-points using a 1:64 split for Optical Network Terminals in a single 1RU (rack unit) form factor. This means that the MS2016 offers about four times the current industry standard – up to 40,000 PON end-points – in a single rack.
Equipped with modular uplink alternatives for copper, fiber Gigabit-Ethernet or 10 Gigabit-Ethernet, and available with AC and DC power, the MS2016 provides network operators with a configuration flexibility for deployment into any central-office location. The MS2016 offers a standard Layer 2 Ethernet feature set for deploying both service-VLAN and customer-VLAN type services.
When combined with the Service Engine broadband aggregator, the PacketFront solution for market leading service enforcement capabilities can also be offered using GPON infrastructure.
Adding PacketFront's BECS element manager system, operational costs will be dramatically cut and the complexity normally associated with network and service roll-out will be greatly reduced.
