BBE
Broadband Business Engine
The Broadband Business Engine (BBE) is a
system that simplifies business processes in broadband networks and is built for
network operators that want total control of the fulfillment-, assurance and
billing processes. BBE is built around a framework that contains the business
logic and external interfaces towards underlying network management systems,
databases and other OSS/BSS platforms.
A network operator faces a number of
challenges in their day-to-day business, ranging from management of customers,
products and subscriptions for multiple service providers and up-to-date
statistics on what is happening in the network to service troubleshooting and
management of roll-outs in new areas.
BBE aids the network operator in
these challenges by supporting a wide range of functionality such
as:
- Service, and product management
- Service Provider
management
- Customer and subscription management
- Inventory
management and
- Troubleshooting
The Broadband Business Engine
framework can be used “as-is” in order to serve as a business layer between
external OSS/BSS systems and underlying network management systems, or the
framework can be equipped with any of the following fully integrated
applications:
- BBE Admin
This is the BBE Core administration
tool, allowing the Network Operator to mange some of the “behind the scenes”
functionality, such as security- and inventory management
- SMT (Subscriber Management
Tool)
This is the customer management application, allowing the Network
Operator, or Service provider, to manage services, products, customers and
subscriptions. This application is also used to define the logic around
subscriptions, such as terms and conditions and also to create powerful
statistics- and marketing reports.
- HMT (Helpdesk Management Tool)
This is the troubleshooting application, allowing helpdesk personnel to
troubleshoot a customers’ connection and services.
- SSP (Service Selection
Portal)
The SSP is a complete web portal solution, allowing end customers to
manage their subscriptions without any involvement from the Service Provider or
Network Operator.
The Broadband Business Engine offers cost
efficient business operation by having all functionality in the same framework,
with the same look and feel and cross-application functionality. Thanks to the
flexible business logic in the framework, the Broadband Business Engine does not
only enable Service Providers to create innovative product offerings and
differentiation, but also enables powerful marketing- and statistics report
generation.
The Broadband Business Engine framework is built on the TMF NGOSS
standards, offering the flexibility to easily integrate external applications by
using the SID model and clear mapping of supported eTOM
processes.
