Broadband Business Engine
The Broadband Business Engine (BBE) is a system that simplifies business processes in broadband networks and is intended for network operators that want total control of the fulfilment, assurance and billing processes. BBE is built around a framework that contains the business logic and external interfaces towards underlying network management systems, databases and other OSS/BSS platforms.
The Broadband Business Engine offers cost efficient business operation by having all functionality in the same framework, with the same look and feel and cross-application functionality. Thanks to the flexible business logic in the framework, the Broadband Business Engine does not only enable Service Providers to create innovative product offerings and differentiation, but also enables powerful marketing and statistics report generation.
The Broadband Business Engine framework is built on the TMF NGOSS standards, offering the flexibility to easily integrate external applications by using the SID model and clear mapping of supported eTOM processes.
The BBE product family is modular and consists of a framework, BBE – Core, and its applications: SMT (Subscriber Management Tool), HMT (Helpdesk Management Tool), BMT (Billing Management Tool), TMT (Ticket Management Tool) and SSP (Service Selection Portal). The BBE - Core key attributes are:
- A framework with business logic for the underlying network management systems, databases and other OSS/BSS platforms.
- A structured view of network resources.
- A point of integration with external CRM systems or other external OSS/BSS systems.
- A modular design, allowing a “pay-as-you-grow” approach and avoiding software lock-ins.
- Compliant with TMF NGOSS standards.

BBE - SSP, Service Selection Portal – Services on demand
SSP is an end-user portal that allows self-provisioning of services in real time. With this easy-to-use interface, service usage increases due to the simplicity the end-user experiences when activating new services and the control which the end-user has, while lowering the operator’s and service provider’s cost of service. For the end-user, services are provisioned in real-time, which is one of the main benefits of PacketFront's solution. The key functions of the Service Selection Portal include:
- Attractive ”shopping window” available for service providers to promote their services to and end-user audience.
- The options for end-users to select, activate, change or de-activate the service of their choice, in real time, from PC or TV. Hence, reduced pressure on customer the support centre.
