PacketFront brings super-fast multi-service fibre net to Wembley City
PacketFront, the European market leader in fibre to the home broadband, is announcing the first UK deployment of its active Ethernet FTTH solution. The super-fast fibre technology now underpins the UK's fastest consumer broadband and high-quality TV & entertainment services.
PacketFront’s long-standing partner, Industria Ltd., has announced the launch of Velocity1, a new London-based broadband entertainment operator. Velocity1 is a full-service TV, telephony and broadband operator jointly-owned with the leading UK property developer Quintain Estates & Development plc. Its market-leading service offerings are delivered to its customers based on PacketFront’s well-proven fibre to the home broadband solution.
Velocity1 launched its first offering at Quintain’s Wembley City, a new development that will comprise around 4,200 homes and businesses when building is complete. Quintain plans to follow suit at other sites as well as beyond its own developments, aiming to bring the UK's fastest consumer broadband and high-quality TV & entertainment services to hundreds of thousands of UK homes in coming years.
"Our mission is to provide affordable, high-speed broadband and compellingly packaged services and tools to homes and businesses in the UK. We are working with the best national and international service providers to offer real choice and great customer value,” said Rupert Graves, MD of Velocity1.
"We are thrilled to have been given the responsibility of building Velocity1 for Quintain," said Industria CEO Erling Gudmundsson. "Having built similar end-to-end operators for investors before, we knew we could do it better than the competition. Certainly our use of PacketFront’s well-proven fibre to the home broadband solutions helped us a great deal here. We are confident that, in the mere 6 months that have passed since the go-decision, we have succeeded in building what will become one of the UK's most important media & entertainment provider companies in the coming years."
"This is a great milestone for Quintain, Industria, PacketFront and truly super-fast broadband in the UK," said Hubert Schanne, CEO of PacketFront. "PacketFront has been pioneering fibre to the home broadband since 2001, and has been leading the way particularly in Scandinavia and the Netherlands. We are pleased to bring our unique understanding of the operational and technical challenges involved in building FTTH networks to the UK."
PacketFront has delivered its well-proven Digital Residential Gateways and Advanced Services Routers supported by the BECS element management system to Industria, allowing for the fully automated support of large-scale delivery of multiple data, voice and video services and any future IP service, dramatically reducing the operational cost for Velocity1.
