PacketFront’s broadband technology chosen for Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Chinzan-So, Japan

PacketFront, the next generation broadband infrastructure provider and leader in open access fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) technology, has announced that it together with NEO Index Corporation and Soliton Systems KK have built the broadband network for Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Chinzan-so. The fully automated network will be based on PacketFront’s Intelligent Broadband Solution and will offer 300 hotel rooms and conference facilities a comprehensive selection of "triple-play" broadband services - TV/video-on-demand, telephony and data services.

Soliton Systems KK has built and is operating the network, while NEO Index Corporation offers "triple-play" services to the hotel. NEO Index Corporation provides hardware and software of multimedia telecommunications system.

With PacketFront’s fully automated solution, Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Chinzan-so can offer guests the opportunity to search and choose services by a simple remote control operation and self registration. A comprehensive selection of over 5,000 titles from major Hollywood studios, as well as Japanese films, can be viewed on large-size LCD television screens in every room. In addition, Internet services with public IP addresses as option, in building LAN services for conference guests, and multicast TV channels like Nikelodeon and VMC, are offered.

Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Chinzan-so said that one of their main reasons for choosing this solution was the companies’ ability to support "triple-play" services with regard to specific challenges like end to end quality of service, multicast capabilities, security functionality and interactive self registration capabilities. Ultimately this will give their guests a broad variety of services to choose from while they can increase their revenues and at the same keep control of operational costs.

The key component of PacketFront’s Intelligent Broadband Solution is BECS™, the award-winning service control and provisioning system. BECS enables operators to build and manage fully automated broadband networks with on-demand, self-provisioning functionality. This gives users the ability to increase capacity and change services for themselves, cutting out the delay of waiting for a third party to make the changes.

"The project for Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo is an excellent application of a broadband network from PacketFront," said Martin Thunman, CEO of PacketFront. "Hotel guests are given the freedom of choice and flexibility in choosing from a wide variety of different services while staying at the hotel. We are very pleased to be chosen together with our partners to build this broadband network for Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Chinzan-so."
