Jordan Telecom chooses PacketFront for FTTH
PacketFront announces that Jordan Telecom in Amman, Jordan, has chosen to base its fibre-to-the-home, Integrated Multimedia Service Platform (IMSP) on PacketFront’s technology.
The IMSP represents an integration of image, voice and data services, offering a set of practical and high quality services such as TV broadcasting, VoD, visio telephony etc via one ultra-speed access line.
Dr Shabib Ammari, Chairman at Jordan Telecom explains that " the new platform will allow users to watch TV programs and films at extremely high digital standards, through fibre to the home technologies. Customers will access several services through a residential gateway, surf the Internet with their PC, watch TV or VOD with their TV set and a set top box, and use analogic telephone or IP phones for voice services" .
Through FTTH technology, access to the IMSP platform is possible. The IMSP is in turn linked to the PC, video-phones and TV. Other services can also be accessed according to demand, such as on-line shopping, office at home, video conferencing, music, interactive education, e-games, etc. Video on demand is another service that provides for unlimited possibilities, whereby it links the TV set to an unlimited world, and allows users to control what they watch, when, and how. Users can download programs of their choice, by selecting them from a huge films library, as well as programs transmitted by favoured TV stations.
Jordan Telecom launches this project using PacketFront’s solution, consisting of the control and provisioning system BECS™ , the ASR series of broadband routers and the CPS series of customer-placed, multi-service switches.
IMSP and PacketFront’s solution make Jordan Telecom one of the first companies in the Middle East to introduce such technology through its advanced ICT infrastructure.
The Director of the IMSP Project in Jordan Telecom, Engineer Hani Hammouqah stated that " Jordan Telecom selected PacketFront’s equipment because it is based on IP technology, flexibility, simplicity to install and upgrade, ease to manage through its control and provisioning system BECS, and because it is field proven and thoroughly tested in France Telecom’s Research and Development Laboratories" (Jordan Telecom is a subsidiary of France Telecom).
About Jordan Telecom Jordan Telecom is the first and largest telecommunication service provider in Jordan, due to its administration of the basic telecommunications infrastructure in the Kingdom, which forms the base of telecommunication services. More info about Jordan Telecom
